Mumbai, March , 2025 – In a bid to enhance consumer awareness and promote the adoption of quality standards, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office-II, has launched ‘Quality Connect’ (Quality Campaign-7.0). This initiative, running from March 11 to March 20, 2025, is focused on educating government departments across Thane, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Raigad districts about BIS standards and certification.

The campaign is particularly significant as it aligns with World Consumer Rights Day, observed globally on March 15, 2025. This year’s theme emphasizes consumer empowerment through informed choices, highlighting the crucial role of quality assurance and regulatory compliance in safeguarding consumer interests.

Through ‘Quality Connect,’ BIS experts, including Manak Mitras and Resource Persons (RPs), will engage directly with government officials to enhance their understanding of Indian standards and encourage the implementation of certified products. Government departments play a pivotal role in influencing procurement policies and regulatory enforcement, making their awareness of quality benchmarks essential for consumer protection and national economic growth.

A key highlight of this initiative is the promotion of the BIS Care App, a digital tool designed to help consumers verify the authenticity of BIS-certified products. The app enables users to check the validity of ISI-marked and Hallmarked products, lodge complaints, and access crucial information about Indian standards. By familiarizing officials with this app, BIS aims to facilitate a wider adoption of quality-certified goods and enhance consumer confidence.

Supporting materials, including brochures and booklets, will be distributed during the campaign to provide government officials with comprehensive insights into the benefits of BIS certification. The campaign also aims to foster a culture of quality consciousness, encouraging government offices to serve as role models for industries and the public by prioritizing certified products in their procurement processes.

As World Consumer Rights Day approaches, BIS Mumbai Branch Office-II urges officials in the designated districts to actively participate in this initiative. The campaign not only reinforces the importance of product safety and regulatory adherence but also contributes to the broader goal of consumer empowerment through standardization and quality assurance.

By spearheading such initiatives, BIS continues to champion consumer rights, ensuring that products available in the market adhere to rigorous safety and quality standards. This effort is a step forward in making India a quality-conscious nation, where informed consumers and responsible governance go hand in hand in upholding product safety and reliability.
