The business is set to install 2 MWp Multi-Format Solar Plant at a FMCG facility in Guwahati to Generate 2.4 Million Units of Clean Energy Annually
Mumbai, 30th April 2025: In a significant advancement supporting India's ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, Energy Solutions, business of the Godrej Enterprises Group, has successfully secured a comprehensive project of 2 MWp solar power plant for a leading FMCG company’s facility in Guwahati, Assam. This landmark project aligns with the nation's vision for energy independence and sustainable industrial growth, showcasing Godrej's commitment to accelerating India's clean energy transition through innovative, customized renewable solutions. Being one of the most responsible brands in India, this project marks Godrej's first major solar EPC project in the FMCG sector, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 98.4 tons annually showcasing Godrej’s expanding capabilities in delivering customized renewable energy solutions across diverse industries.
The state-of-the-art solar plant will generate approximately 2.4 million kilowatt-hours of green energy annually, significantly reducing the facility's carbon footprint. The facility will now see approximately ₹1.4 crore in annual energy cost savings, with the solar installation designed to operate for at least 25 years, generating a total of 57,000 MWh of clean energy over its lifetime.
"This solar installation
represents a milestone in our renewable energy portfolio," said Raghavendra
Mirji, Executive Vice President & Business Head, Energy Solutions, a part
of Godrej Enterprises said, “India's industrial sector is at
a pivotal moment in its energy transition, with companies recognizing that
renewable integration is environmentally necessary and economically
advantageous. Godrej is one of the most trusted brands in India and we are
committed to advancing India's energy transition by providing scalable,
efficient solar solutions across sectors. This project exemplifies how
industrial facilities can embrace clean energy while improving operational
efficiency.”
The project aligns strategically with Assam's progressive renewable energy policy, which aims to establish 2,000 MW of renewable energy generation capacity by 2025, with a primary focus on solar power. This ambitious regional target allocates 1,500 MW to utility-scale solar projects and 500 MW to rooftop and distributed solar systems. Godrej's multi-format installation contributes to achieving these targets through private sector leadership.
Godrej has undertaken a range of pioneering projects across
India. In the solar segment, the business commissioned 12.5 MWp rooftop solar
project, the third largest rooftop solar installations in India and the first
in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, the company commissioned a 25MW ground-mounted
solar project in Dhule, Maharashtra, expected to generate 45 million units
annually. This project highlights Godrej’s commitment to supporting
Maharashtra's renewable energy objectives and advancing environmental
stewardship.
