ICPA’s Most Recent Clinical Series Explores Regenerative Periodontal Surgery In Current Day Practice

Mumbai, Jan 09: India’s leading Pharma Company in the oral healthcare segment - ICPA Health Products Ltd (ICPA) hosted its latest episode on Contemporary Periodontal Practice and Regenerative Periodontal Surgery in current day practice scenario. The 20^th episode featured Dr Sudhindra Kulkarni, MDS (Periodontics) as the guest speaker, who showed current evidence-based practices in regenerative periodontal surgery. Dr Kulkarni, while emphasizing the significance of preserving and increasing the life of natural teeth, shared his in depth knowledge on the periodontal conditions that call for performing regenerative surgery, which is a highly specialised procedure in the domain of periodontists that helps in saving and prolonging the life of natural teeth.

Regeneration is the restitution or reconstitution of the lost parts or structures of the body by cells or tissues belonging to the same type. Dr Sudhindra Kulkarni spoke about a range of clinical situations, such as different types of bony defects that require a variety of periodontal regenerative materials, including bone grafts and membranes. He also spoke about the use of root surface bio-modifiers for obtaining a clean root surface for improving the regenerative outcomes. Dr Kulkarni shared original cases that were successfully treated by him along with results that have remained stable even after many years of follow up. He stressed on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene with toothbrushes and mouthwashes that he recommends for better healing after regenerative surgeries.

Dr Sudhindra Kulkarni is currently a consultant and, Professor of Periodontics & Implantology at PMNM Dental College in Bagalkot. He is a Fellow of ISOI, Diplomate of ICOI and the Editor of Dental Implants of ISOI.
